Lights please!

A few years ago I bought a lovely vintage handbag at a church flea market. Inside the bag I found a wrinkled piece of paper, which said: don’t wait for a light to appear at the end of the tunnel, stride down there and light the bloody thing yourself, Sara Henderson. I’ve no idea who Sara Henderson is and after I goggled her name, I am non the wiser. I love this quote because it describes me as person so well. I never sit around and wait for others to do things for me, but I ask for help when I need it. Never expect others to be in charge of your life. When you choose that path, you become passive rather than active. Don’t wait for a light to appear at the end of the tunnel, turn it on yourself. //Marianne

  1. As Plato once said: “We can easily forgive a child who is afraid of the dark — the real tragedy of life is when men are afraid of the light”.

  5. What a gift to find in a purse.. one should always do this when giving away garments.. imagine what you’d put into pockets, etc! Maybe she is the original owner and was a writer??

    • I paid 1,50 US dollar for a vintage leather bag, I told them I wanted to pay more but they refused, :). I love the idea of writing something positive on a piece of paper and put into pockets etc when you give garments away, brilliant! You have tickled my fantasy about the original owner… :).

  9. What an inspiring thought about a familiar expression. We either choose to have a victim mentality or we chose to raise our eyes and lift our shoulders and face life head on, whatever it brings.

    • Being passive is never a good idea. But it’s a good idea to surround yourself with people who can help you when you need it. Thank you for visiting my blog, :).
